22/04/2010

Yale College and Glyndŵr University worked closely with, Wrexham County Borough Council, Career Wales, UCAS and HELOA to encourage students to focus on their next steps at the annual Higher Education Convention held in the Sports Hall at Glyndŵr this week.HE Convention

The event was attended by The Worshipful Mayor of Wrexham, Coucillor Arwel Gwynn Jones, and The Lady Mayoress, Mair Jones who circulated over sixty five impressive stands with the Principal of Yale College, Paul Croke and Carol O’Toole, Chair of The Governing Body for the College. Throughout the day the Convention buzzed with an aura of anticipation as stands aimed to develop opportunities for learners of North Wales and the Border Counties.

Potential undergraduates were able to take stock of their future exploring ideas, subjects and universities of interest by attending a wide range of talks during the Convention including Student Finance, Art and Design, Law, Nursing, Business, Primary Education and Personal Statement Preparation. The Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy & Royal Marines were also available to discuss career progression within their services.

“It provided a perfect chance for students from schools across Wrexham, Oswestry, Denbighshire and Flintshire to consider their ideas for higher education at a local event and help them to make the right choices,” said Suzanne Evans, Careers Officer at Yale College, who worked closely with Julie Cowley from Glyndŵr University to plan and organize the event in conjunction with HELOA*, UCAS, Wrexham County Borough Council and Careers Wales.
