INTRODUCTION
Designed specifically to meet the health and safety needs of the Industry, this course has been cleverly organised to provide an enjoyable and interactive learning experience for anyone who handles horses.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no specific entry requirements for this course although candidates will need equine experience, a suitable degree of maturity as well as an appropriate level of basic skills. This is a distance learning course through Equi Study.
COURSE CONTENT
Unit 1: Horse Sense.
Unit 2: Safety when Riding.
Unit 3: Safe Working Practices.
Unit 4: Machinery and Equipment
Unit 5: Accidents and People.
Unit 6: First Aid.
Unit 7: Safety Signs.
Unit 8: Fire.
Unit 9: Health and Safety Law.
Unit 10: Health and Hygiene.
ASSESSMENT
The learning pack provided includes: a training booklet, a study guide, a course assignment and a training CD-ROM. Ideally learners need to have access to a computer and where internet access to available, learners can visit the on-line self assessment area. However it is possible to complete this course without direct access to a computer.
Assessment includes a yard based assignment and a final on-line assessment; this includes 20 questions which 50 % must be achieved. In addition 5 practical tasks have to be completed.

This accredited qualification is aimed at candidates who wish to enter and have career progression within the sector. Course Fees
Full-time students do not pay course or examination entry fees, except in some cases when there are examination re-sits. Part-time students pay course fees, which are displayed in College publications or are obtainable from Admissions, and examination entry and / or registration fees.
